About Me
I’m well known in the tropical island of Jamaica. Another name for me is ‘Amaranth greens’. I grow best in the summer, and I’m full of nutrition - especially calcium, vitamin A, vitamin C, and even some iron. You can eat my leaves, flower buds, and my seeds
I’m good for
Traditionally treating inflammation such as ulcers or irritations. I have a good amount of antioxidants
I’m best eaten
Cooked with onions, garlic, tomatoes, thyme, and (if you’re brave) scotch bonnet pepper (without it bursting!)
I can be enjoyed with
Ackee and breadfruit, Jamaican style
